Shimano IX Series Spinning ReelsThe Shimano IX series spinning reels have all the features that are standard with the Shimano line of fishing tackle. The spool is aluminum and depending on whether you prefer front or rear drag, the reel is built to do the job. Front drag reels feature QuickFire II with a self-centering line and a trigger for fast and easy one handed casts. The rear drag models feature Dynabalance that redistributes the rotor weight to create smooth rotation and eliminate vibrations and a Power Roller line roller that reduces line twist from repeated casting and retrieving. No matter which of the models in the IX line, 1000, 2000 and 4000, you wish to have you can choose either front or rear drag. The difference is specified in the lettering, FA or RA, after the number. The Shimano IX series spinning reels have a lightweight frame, a graphite spool and Quickfire 11 for smooth performance when freshwater fishing. The differences between the various models are: - IX 1000 - line capacities 2/270, 4/140, 6/110 with a gear ratio of 4.1:1. The weight is 7.1 ounces - IX 2000 - line capacities 6/170. 8/120, 10/100 with a gear ratio of 4.1:1. This reel is a bit heavier at 8.7 ounces. - IX 4000 - line capacities 8/240, 10/200, 12/160 with the same gear ratio as the other models but a weight of 1111.9 ounces.
